Ronnie Spiteri’s trajectory into the International spotlight is the stuff dreams are made of…
From out of nowhere during summer 2016 Jamie Jones dropped Ronnie’s Thin & Crispy track (Do Not Sleep Recs) during a live BBC Radio 1 Essential mix broadcast from his notorious Paradise Party @ DC10, Ibiza. It was one of the most publically talked about tracks of that legendary ESmix broadcast. This was then followed up by Ronnie’s debut play on Pete Tong’s Essential Selection show where he was awarded the hugely sought after accolade of #EssentialNewTune for his ‘Multiply EP’ on Hot Since 82’s Knee Deep In Sound Imprint.
The Spiteri sound has been honed and crafted via his current global residency for the hugely popular brand of party starters Do Not Sleep. Summer 2017 has seen show stopping performances at Café Mambo & Sankeys Ibiza, where he recently played the closing set to top off a standout debut season on the island which was then swiftly followed by a solid impromptu b2b set with Darius Syrossian, Hector Couto & Detlef to a packed out arena in the Do Not Sleep arena at Abode Festival, London.
You can also find Ronnie regularly spinning and testing out his own productions (which are a masterfully crafted blend of stripped back house and techno) at his local Switch Warehouse residency in Southampton (UK) plus look out for the non-stop plethora of aforementioned quality tracks he is currently releasing via some of the premium house and techno labels around like, Hot Since 82’s ‘Knee Deep In Sound’, Adam Beyer’s ‘Truesoul’, Steve Lawler’s iVAV / VIVa, Anja Schneiders ‘Mobilee’. Anja has also remixed the lead track from his forthcoming 3 tracker on ‘Do Not Sleep’ that drops around Miami MMW 18 and Ronnie recently stamped his mark on a remix of the classic ‘Celeda’ vocal ‘The Underground’ which was the standout track of his recent South America tour.
His consistent output of quality original material has pushed him to the top of many DJ’s playlists including Adam Beyer, Joris Vorn, Anja Schnieder, Alan Fitzpatrick, Jamie Jones, Darius Syrossian, Waff, Sante, Josh Butler, Sidney Charles, Fatboy Slim and Reset Robot.
Ronnie was brought up immersed in house music; you could say it’s in his veins! His father is a veteran promoter from the South Coast of England who used to put on illegal Rave's up and down the country in the early 90’s, many a time with a young Ronnie in tow. By the age of 11 Ronnie had spun his first record on his Dad’s set of Technics, he played & recorded his first DJ set at the age of 14 and by the age of 16 had secured his first DJ residency at the local club night. Ronnie has literally has grown up in and around dance music. It was only a matter of time before Ronnie starting putting down his experiences, influences and ideas in the studio. Always the perfectionist Ronnie spent at least 3 years honing his craft into the simply awesome house & techno sound akin to his peers that has been gracing the best dance floors around the world today.
2017 was Ronnie's strongest year yet, rolling into 2018 with the current best selling track on ‘Knee Deep In Sound’ on Beatport, being signed up to the ever-impressive NGE artist roster, recent sold out show for EL Row in the UK, supporting Claude Von Stroke (May 18), Dj Mag print features, more new tracks signed to Alan Fitzpatrick’s ‘We Are The Brave’ and Nick Curly’s ‘8 Bit’ and also several new hot artist collabs bubbling away, which are set to take his artist profile to new heights.
With his very own Kenja imprint going from strength to strength, already featuring Darius Syrossian, Markus Homm, Josh Butler & Reset Robot to name but a few and with a stacked release schedule already penciled the label is looking hot for 2018.
